Among the winners of 1876 which earned for their owners over £1000, there are three aged horses, four six-year olds, j ten five-year olds, ten four-year olds, [ twenty-one three-year olds, and twentyfive two-year olds. Petrarch lakes the lead with £11,700. Kisber is credited with £5575, to which should be added amount won in the Grand Prix de Paris, £5598, making his total winnings £11.173. Chamant, by Mortimer (two years old), is third on the list with £5930; Controversy, five years old, is .next with £5*70 ;•_ then cornea Cornelia, by Maccaroni, three years, old, with £5250. Eive horses are credited with over £3000 ; seven with over £2000, and fifty.five over £1000. Thomas Carroll, well known as an English jockey, was sentenced on December 7th by the Wolverhampton (Ehg.) magistrates to. fourteen days' imprisonment for vagrancy.

E. B. Wormald, formerly editor of the Sportsman, subsequently boating editor of Bell's Life, and latterly chess editor of the London Illustrated News, died in London, England, Pecember 4th.

The contest of the Oxford trial eights resulted in the votary of My Cowle's crew. TLis, crew, with a few alterations, will be the one selected to uphold the Oxford honors in the inter-nniversity .race next spi'iug. Mr Williams' crew will no doubt represent Cambridge. Captain Paul Boyton (of life-saving suit fame) is travelling in Europe. One of his latest exploits was to navigate the water from Turin to Perrara, a distance of 800 miles. He also swan from Turin to Castel Nuovo (160 miles) in eightythree hours.
